The restaurant was good.
The room was classified "deluxe" but it was windowless, cold and dank. Really, a room without a window? The staff were unhelpful about the lack of an English language TV station. We have stayed in much better 2 star hotels than this 4 star hotel.
The wonderful location and setting. The staff were most friendly and attentive. We felt at home immediately on arrival. We had a delightful Junior Suite that was well located within the complex.
Long drives in the mountains to get anywhere on the east coast!
The beauty of the Oliena area is magnificent. The majestic Supramonte are stunning and a must see for anyone traveling to Sardegna. Su Gologone is position in a perfect spot and has a roof top bar with the perfect view straight across from this natural wonder. The cuisine at Su Gologone is really worth the trip, as well. We really enjoyed the Degustazione (Tasting Menu) but also enjoyed other menu items for our other dinner and lunches and they were equally superb. The dining room is cozy and really lends to the feel of being in a mountain environment. The complimentary breakfast buffet was also superb and offered many meats, cheeses, pastries, etc. The view from open air breakfast dining area was quite spectacular, as well. The grounds of Su Gologone are really intricate, with a lot of different spots to relax, read or take a nap and great spots to enjoy an evening cocktail with gorgeous views. The spring water pool was a great size and very refreshing. Views of the Supramonte towered above the hotel and offered a fabulous view while lounging by the pool. Our room was small but cozy with cute decor and a nice, roomy balcony.
The mattress was old and pretty uncomfortable, unfortunately.
Unbelievable food and location. Priceless.
We love the care of the details but all the beds are old and need to be renovated
It was a lot of things in one hotel: art gallery, ancient bakery, excellent restaurant, nature around, luxury. A vety unusal hotel, which is worth coming back to.
Not all staff do speak languages other than Italian and the lady at the swimming pool was not very friendly.
The hotel is located in the spectacular countryside. It is a good spot for visiting and trekking in the canyons. The hotel itself is full of beautiful artwork and unique Sardinan items. Our room was very comfortable and the dinner served was the best we had in our time in Sardinia- Fantastic
There were prolific rodent droppings in the library and covering the windowsills of our bedroom. We felt we could not keep the windows open. The pool area needed a bit of attention. At €200 per night these things should not be overlooked.
The charming vistas, the luscious grounds and warm atmosphere made for a memorable stay. The outdoor pool is wonderful, set in a lovely country garden. The hotel felt very intimate and there a mixture of families and couples. The beaches are half an hour away but this never felt like a problem as you are surrounded by beautiful mountains and wonderful caves, that can be easily visited. We loved the outdoor bar!
We don't have many criticisms. The staff could be a little friendlier on the odd occasion, but this was a rarity and I would definitely stay again.
It was 10 years since I was here and the place only improved! Authentic luxury with a local Sardinian touch without all the glossy aspects you get in other 5-star-plus resorts. This place is magnificant. A great get-away to relax and enjoy great food and surroundings. Good place for kids too, due to the large set up and great swimming pool. Defenitely going here again, and this time it's not gonna take 10 yrs...
The hotel is well designed and maintained. It is truly a wonder of color and landscape the fits its place. With the added amenities of a gorgeous pool and jacuzzi, herb garden, book store, and gift shop, it comes a kind of ecology of comfort. So much so that one is at risk of forgetting to get out into the surrounding area, with a steep hike up to Tiscali and stroll around the nearby "sorgente", one has no excuse to actually stay the whole time in the hotel. Don't, tempting as it is, it's in a beautiful place.
Nice and large swimming pool. Beautiful view from restaurant over valley. Nice garden.
The staff friendliness was just perfect. It's a gorgeous hotel if you fancy mother nature and local art. A lovely slow hotel with excellent staff.
Everything was just perfect, from arrival to departure!
I most enjoyed the location of the hotel in the middle of nowhere but exclusive and individual hotel. Very natural enviroment and surronunding. Perfect for some days to enjoy an relax.
The artwork displayed throughout was very interesting and gave a flavour of Sardinian crafts and life. Pool was good (and necessary in the 30c+ temperatures we enjoyed). Good walks nearby so overall a good stop.
The main courses (secundo) for the evening meal were disappointing but otherwise no complaints.
Su Gologone was a perfect holiday destination. It felt like being in an oasis of peace with the sound of birdsong in the surrounding trees. The hotel has a magical feel, around every corner there was a surprise. The room we had was charming, artistic, very comfortable - I didn't want to move on. The staff were always friendly, helpful and professional. When we checked out the receptionist didn't charge for the drinks we had had from the minibar- (albeit only soft drinks) - "next time" she said. The artworks displayed throughout the hotel were quirky, amusing and fascinating. As we left Easter was being celebrated in the creation of gorgeous tableaux around the hotel, look again and there was another one. Brilliant stay just not long enough.
The hotel is nice, but it really needs refurbishing badly! Everything is getting a but over-used..
Too many old people!! We felt like we arrived in a senior home.. Pool was full of insects and not clean Bed was terrible!
